"You need not leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. You need not even listen, simply wait. You need not even wait, just learn to become quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked. It has no other choice. It will roll in ecstasy at your feet." ~Franz Kafka

While Diwali (Dipavali) is popularly known as the "festival of lights", the most significant spiritual meaning is "the awareness of the inner light".
Central to Hindu philosophy is the assertion that there is something beyond the physical body and mind which is pure, infinite, and eternal, called the Atman. Just as we celebrate the birth of our physical being, Diwali is the celebration of this inner light, in particular the knowing of which outshines all darkness (removes all obstacles and dispels all ignorance), awakening the individual to one's true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality. With the realization of the Atman comes universal compassion, love, and the awareness of the oneness of all things (higher knowledge). This brings Ananda (inner joy or peace).
The gunas are the underlying forces or tendencies which one needs to have unaffected, direct relation with in order to find effectiveness and righteousness in life: they are lines of potential and illuminate thought and action, thus the inner meaning of Diwali being the festival of lights.
Diwali celebrates this through festive fireworks, lights, flowers, sharing of sweets, and worship. While the story behind Diwali varies from region to region, the essence is the same - to rejoice in the inner light (Atman) or the underlying reality of all things (Brahman).

Yogi Bhajan gave us a special sadhana in honor of the birth of Guru Ram Das. This sadhana is a 2½ hour recitation of the complete Shabad (sacred song) of "Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru." We practice this Shabad to ignite the power of our prayer. As Yogi Bhajan said, "Any move you make, you must pray because that ignites the power. Ignite the power and then go. Let God take care of it." Guru Ram Das is the Lord of Miracles and so on this day pray for your miracle!About Guru Ram Das
Guru Ram Das began his life as a humble orphan named Jetha. He used to sell wheat berries in the street near the home of the third Sikh Master, Guru Amar Das. One day, Guru Amar Das called the boy into see him. He saw the spirit of Jetha, his Light, his humility, service and love.
"Guru Amar Das said to him, ‘You are not an orphan. You shall be the savior of orphans. All spiritual orphans shall be saved at your home. Jetha, this world is burning in anger and the mesh of lust. People have left God. They have forgotten the Purkha and the Praakirtee. They are all orphans. You shall be the savior of all spiritual orphans. I will marry my daughter to you and you shall be my son-in-law. Therefore, as a custom, I have to respect you.' Guru Amar Das folded his hands, and requested the boy to go and ask his relatives if they could honor him by accepting this relationship. Can you believe from where destiny starts and to where it leads? A miracle happened which never happened before and never has happened since. Jetha, that little orphan boy, became Guru Ram Das. When God smiles at you, you need not go to God; God comes to you." - Yogi Bhajan. (Published in Sikh Dharma Magazine. Vol. III No. 4 Winter 1978)
When we meditate on the Shabad, Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru, we are placing ourselves in the position of witnessing this miracle - of how the hand of the Divine arranged the affairs of a humble, bright and beautiful soul. We are calling on the Subtle and Radiant body of Guru Ram Das to bless us so that we can be part of that miracle. As Guru Ram Das was carried across his karmas to this destiny, so his blessing can touch us and carry us across, as well. This is the power of chanting Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru.

This year I again participated in Shiva Rea's project Global Mala, and have actually completed 108 Surya Namascara's in less than three hours time.
More than 1500 people from as many as 20 different countries come together for 8 days on the grounds of a country estate in the Loire Valley in France, to practice Kundalini Yoga, White Tantra Yoga and other activities related to the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. Each year the Festival highlights a specific aspect of Yoga, but it also provides special attention to newcomers who have little or no experience of Yoga practice.Yogi Bhajan says about this:
“It is the subtle beauty which attracts wealth and prosperity. It is the subtle beauty which is always in you till death. When that starts flowing, then God starts working for you. Do you understand that?
If today you have decided that you are not happy, remember you are not relating to your own subtle self. Spiritual communication and spiritual strength all over the world will only relate to you if you relay the message through your subtle self, because subtle self has a common center of knowledge and activity. That’s why the soul leaves the physical body inside the subtle body." (Yogi Bhajan)
I've just completed a quiz about my inner nationality and they say that I am Spanish!
Today I want to share a recording of the guided vipassana meditation. It should be helpful for those who experience difficulties with concentration and get distracted, like me. Please note that you absolutely MUST complete at least one 10 days course before meditating at home. You can download the file from here. The file is password-protected and the password was shared upon completion of the course amongst the students, so don't ask me I will not tell.

My new 10-days course starts today.
